This poll asked whether St. Charles Parish should place a moratorium on data centers until they were properly regulated. It is closed, because the parish regulated them.

The question is settled. On April 6, 2026 the parish council voted 5 to 3 against an eight month moratorium. On June 1, 2026 it adopted a data center zoning ordinance by a unanimous vote of 9 to 0. Data centers are now defined in the parish zoning code and permitted in the M-1 and M-2 industrial districts under supplemental regulations.
Asking residents whether to pause permitting "until they are properly regulated" no longer means anything, so no further responses are being taken. What people said while it was open is below.
The live questions now are the ones the ordinance does not answer: facility size, water use reporting, demand response during grid emergencies, and enforcement. Those are set out here, and here is how to raise them with your council member.
This was an informal poll and never an official vote. Responses were anonymous, with only a zip code collected to show how different communities across the parish answered.
